Not only is NMU a good 4-year college, the town of Marquette is enough to win anyone over. All students will experience a small town atmosphere in the biggest city of the Upper Peninsula, but surrounded by a breathtaking view. This place has it all from hiking, biking, winter events, comedy nights, trivia, local festivals, great food, and small business shops. If the town does not win anyone over, the University has many great programs.

The psychology department is expanding their research and programs every year. From when I started, NMU's psychology department started 2 new research labs and added a neuroscience focused track. They are in the works of starting an APA accredited PhD program and hiring new faculty with ambitious goals. Completing the Master's program at NMU, the Psychology department offers their graduate students graduate assistantships where they teach a lab section for different courses.

These assistantships include tuition waivers and a stipend. There are also a lot of scholarship opportunities. This university is one of the least expensive 4-year universities in the country, and has a new LTE internet system to supply free internet for off campus students. Along with free internet, full-time students get a laptop and full-time helpdesk support. In - , NMU rebranded and build a new facility and dorms with state of the art technology and equipment for classes.

There is a starbucks right in the middle of the new facility, Jamrich, for before and after class caffeine intake. Overall, I enjoyed my time at NMU and only have great things to say. As all universities have their downsides, I feel NMU's are limited and worth the education you recieve. I would definitely give NMU a look while applying for schools. Rebecca Lynn. I was very happy with the Psychology professors that I was able to work with throughout my education. They were all very knowledgable. This, in my opinion, is the best part of the school. Located on the south shores of Lake Superior, there are endless trails and beaches to find an adventure to offset the hectic life of a student.

The people of this area are nice. The city of Marquette is amazing, and so is the whole UP. There are a lot of activities to do outside and that attracts a cool crowd. Tuition is cheap, but they keep raising it significantly to pay for all of the new dorms,even though enrollment is down. I had a professor who had to go on welfare to get by on what she was making at the school. Not okay. Elizabeth Weber.

NMU is very supportive of its students and their endeavors. My program was in international studies with a minor in anthropology. The staff are wholeheartedly dedicated to helping shape your goals into a reality while pursuing a degree.
